MONIN is proud to present its new digital initiative that aims to give coffee shops a competitive edge by tapping into the latest trends, seasonal and extended occasion opportunities. ‘The Flavour Inspiration Sessions’ are a series of three bespoke conversations run across Facebook Live.

Created to help independent coffee outlets address the challenges synonymous with the current skill shortage, the 30-minute interactive discussions will run during UK Coffee Week. The Facebook Live series has been designed to give coffee shops access to the flavour experts’ global insight and the latest industry innovation.  The ‘Flavour Inspiration Sessions’ will be presented by MONIN’s own in house experts, Lee Hyde, Beverage Innovation Manager for UK & Ireland and Attila Molnar, Coffee Innovation Manager For EMEIA.

Those interested can join MONIN during UK Coffee Week at 17:30 on Monday 29th April, Wednesday 1st May and Thursday 2nd May to discuss everything from Raff Coffee to flavour evolution and innovative cocktails.

Monday 29th April will focus on the latest Global Trends. The session will take a detailed look at what’s currently influencing the UK market. Lee and Attila will share their insight on everything from Raff Coffee and Cheese Tea to milk alternatives as well as demonstrating a range of innovative recipes that can easily be replicated.

Wednesday 1st May will look at seasonality and go Beyond the Basics.  Lee and Attila challenge themselves to serve up four seasons in 20 mins and will look at different ways to respond to the consumer demand for increasingly interesting seasonal drinks. They will discuss how they think creatively when it comes to on trend themes, including; What’s new for Christmas, what will make your Halloween offering stand out and what does a summer coffee look like this year?

On Thursday 2nd May the duo will look at Extending Day Parts as Lee takes the reins with the pair investigating the journey from coffee to cocktails. The last session in the series will explore how you can extend your offering from coffee to cocktails using many of the same skills and ingredients. The final masterclass will also identify ways in which you can serve inspiring and innovative no ABV cocktails without the need for an alcohol license.

Lee Hyde comments: “The coffee shop sector is constantly evolving, whether that’s through flavour innovation, a renewed vigour for coffee house culture or changing expectations on what an outlet should offer. In recognition of UK Coffee Week, we wanted to create a conversation that could help independent coffee shops gain a competitive advantage as well as ease the time and financial burden of staff training.

“Each of theme will be accompanied by industry insight, suggested innovative flavour combinations and bold, yet simple recipe inspiration.  Our ‘Flavour Inspiration Sessions’ will go live at 17:30 to minimise disruption to the day’s service. We’re inviting managers and owners to encourage their staff to stay for just half an hour at the end of the day to join our masterclasses and we’d love to hear their thoughts and answer any questions as we go through each topic. For those who can’t join us live the content will remain on Facebook to review at convenience.”
